I can hear the cries coming from deep within a desperate soul, cries for more of God, for more than just a fleeting touch. Within the church today are those who have become desperate for a release of the manifest glory of God. They want evidence that it’s real--that it’s powerful, and that it works to address the problems around them. They need proof of healings, miracles, signs, wonders and deliverances. They want all that God has to offer today but are unwilling to settle for more hype or cheap imitations to get it.
As we study the first century church we see that miracles, signs, and wonders flowed regularly, but they flowed as the church prayed, preached repentance, and cherished holiness. A baptism of fire cleansed the early disciples while consuming the sin, which resulted in a deep and holy fear of the Lord. People walked softly before their God as they embraced a reverence born out of holy encounters with the Holy Spirit.
I am desperate for real, supernatural glory to hit the church in waves that will leave no doubt as to their authenticity. I yearn for healings, miracles, and earthshaking revival that will bring mass conversions as well as cleansing flames that will consume sin and produce a stunning fear of the Lord. I want to see the power of God shatter inflated egos, expose insensitivity and kill pride. I want to flow in the true river of God, and I believe we can as we embrace a holy God and honor the precious Holy Spirit.
I can hear the cries of an entire generation desperate for what’s real...will we give it to them? Are we willing to walk humbly and respectfully before our God? Will we pay the price to get there? I pray that we will and that such a move will start with me, because it’s now or never.
