Recently the Lord showed me some things He wants me to share with you. In the Ten Commandments it says, “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.” I was stunned and horrified when He said that when I focus on myself, my inadequacies and my lack of perfection, I become a god before Him, which renders me absolutely useless to the Kingdom of God. And that opens a door, allowing the devil to operate.
During my recent visions of heaven, Jesus has consistently opened His arms to me and held me in a warm, loving embrace, never letting me go. I’m the one who always wiggles out of His embrace when I say, “Okay, now I want you to show me around.” The remarkable truth is that He would never let go if He had His way. That’s how much He loves each one of us.
As we walked around heaven, He showed me what certain of my family members were doing in heaven, and I asked, “What’s my assignment going to be when I get to heaven?” And He said, “You’re going to be a cheerleader.” When I frowned in confusion, He said, “What’s wrong?” And I said, “I’m not the cheerleader type—never cared a thing about it when I was young.” He said, “You can’t help it. It’s who you are—someone who loves to motivate others, using the truth to change lives.” Then after a pause He added, “You know you love it.” I said, “I guess you know me better than I know myself.” He smiled. “That’s because I created you and I know what makes you tick.”
Let me stop here, because I need to emphasize that because God is no respecter of persons, He loves us all equally. He has a special niche for each of us that only we can fill. But right now, we’re stuck, paralyzed by unbelief. We see ourselves as fallen, inadequate and unable to change, when God says we’ve been bought with a price, made brand new, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and empowered to do even greater things than Jesus did. Let me repeat that. We’ve been bought with a price, made brand new, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and empowered to do even greater things than Jesus did. Can’t you feel hope rising inside you?
Many of us have felt we’ll never fit in, because we’ve bought the lie that we’re only acceptable if we’re perfect, or just like everyone else. But God doesn’t expect us to be perfect. He doesn’t care about that. He created us to be unique from everyone else, and He wants us to realize how precious those distinctions are to Him. He wants us to see ourselves as beloved, and to love the skin we’re in. He wants us to live with passion for Christ, refusing to take ourselves so seriously, and simply have a ball. When we fail, He wants us to give those feelings of disappointment, guilt and shame to Him, and let Him deal with it, so it doesn’t kick us around the block, and mess with our heads, hindering our walk with God.
None of us can deny that we’re in the last days and that something has to change if we’re going to walk in power. God has great plans and needs us to be ready to take our places, moving in the Spirit to do great exploits. In fact, as I mentioned a while back, God promised Bob Jones that on his 85th birthday, (Febr. 4, 2015) He would open heaven and begin to pour out a harvest of a billion souls. But most of us are ill prepared to be part of that harvest, because we’re living in the shadow of God’s best, with no idea how to break through.
Well, here’s the plan. We are to love the Lord with all our hearts, souls, minds and strength, stirring our passion to new heights. We’re to soak in His presence, ready at every moment to hear what He has to say and move in obedience. We’re to choose up front, to love and forgive our brothers and sisters, and look for the best in them, no matter what. And that means refusing to be offended. So what do we do with offenses and wounds? We give them to God, saying, “I can’t handle this, so you take it, Lord. It’s your ball game now.” And we let it go, knowing He’s already gone before us, preparing the way for our success. At this point our motto is: NO FEAR, because Jesus is not only our Savior, but our Protector, who always has our backs.
God spoke the world into being with His words, and He has given us that same power to speak and declare with authority, calling into being the things that are not as though they were, stepping on principalities and powers, and putting our enemies under our feet. In fact, when we walk in faith, demons flee in terror.
God is saying that today is the day of our breakthrough. He wants this to be the day we choose to believe and move into our destiny. So if you’re desperate for more, ready to walk in power, He wants you to stand right now, and be counted. If this describes you, stand up, and repeat after me. “Jesus is Lord…He died to save me from sin, hell and death…He has given me everything I need for live and godliness…I am no longer the old man I once was… but a brand new creation in Christ Jesus…His Word is unchangeable, and trustworthy…I am who He says I am, and I can do what He says I can do…I never have to fall for the lies of Satan and my past again…because today I’m cutting the ties that trip me up… with old dead messages of my past…I am brand new…Jesus is Lord over my life…and I am an Overcomer moving from glory to glory.
“Today is my day… and I will not be denied my holy inheritance…From this day on… I will believe what You say, God…and refuse to let anything rob me again…I repent of focusing on myself and having other gods before You…and at this moment in time…I give You your rightful place in my life…From this day on, I will choose to love and forgive my brothers and sisters, standing on your promises…and live as if they are truth and everything else is lies…I thank You, Lord…that nothing is impossible for You…and that because your Holy Spirit lives in me…nothing is impossible for ME!
Today I say, “Have your way in me, Lord…and let me glorify You with everything in me…both now and forever, amen.”
Now this wasn’t merely another set of worthless words to repeat, but rather a declaration before God that will move mountains if you’re sincere. So live as if it is so, expecting great things.
Now give the Lord a shout of praise for your breakthrough! Jesus is LORD!
